Building companies from Ukraine: the reality no one tells you
When I moved to Kyiv, many thought I was crazy. Today I think it would have been crazier to stay still.
Ukraine is a complex country, yes. But it's also a country with an energy that no longer exists in Western Europe: brilliant people, hunger to grow, technical talent, creativity under pressure, and an adaptability that surprises even those of us who come from difficult backgrounds.
- less bureaucracy, more solutions;
- fewer "endless processes", more agility;
- less business romanticism, more real execution.
In Kyiv I built teams, set up entire departments, launched services for half of Europe, and consolidated projects that now operate on three continents.
And I'll tell you something: Nothing prepares you for entrepreneurship in a country at war, but entrepreneurship here prepares you to lead anywhere in the world.
Mature markets move slowly. Ukraine moves in leaps.
And when you're part of that dynamic, your tolerance for chaos multiplies, your leadership sharpens, and your sense of urgency becomes your competitive advantage.
It's not an easy place. But easy places don't create leaders. Difficult places do.
